Deuteronomy 3

As the group continues to head towards the promised land, God has them fight other nations and cities and they win, killing everyone, even women and children, so that the group will not become blemished by the Pegan practices of the other regions and cities.  The Israelites accumulate more livestock with each battle.  God allows the Israelite women, children and livestock to remain in a safe place while the men go to battle.  When they are close to the promised land, God begins to prepare Joshua to take Moses’s place.  Moses pleads to God to allow  him to enter the promised land.  God replied:  “That’s enough! Do not speak to me again about this matter.”  He allowed him to view the promised land from the top of the mountain.  God asked Moses to commission Joshua to take his place and lead Israel into the final path of entering the promised land.
It would have been very hard for me to follow God’s instructions this far, and then to hand over the “prize” of all the work to someone else.  I know that Moses sinned when he let his anger and frustration get the best of him, but still, it would be very  hard from a pride and ego perspective.  Moses followed through with the task and received something so much better – eternity with God.
How can I follow the direction of Moses and lay down my ego and pride when frustration and anger surface, and continue to follow God’s path when “I” want to do things my way?
