Luke 9: 7-9
When Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, heard about everything Jesus was doing, he was puzzled. Some were saying that John the Baptist had been raised from the dead. Herod had John the Baptist beheaded, so could not understand how the person he was hearing about could have been him. Others thought Jesus was Elijah or one of the other prophets risen from the dead. This confused Herod, so he kept trying to see Jesus to clear up his confusion.
For the longest time, I ran from Jesus. I would see healings on TV, or hear about people casting their fears, worries and concerns onto Jesus – or laying them at His feet. They would quote scripture and pray and talk about how wonderful their life was with Jesus in it. This peaked my curiosity; however, I would see these same people encounter challenge after challenge, encounter fits of rage, get angry and cuss at others and talk about others behind their backs. I could not understand the duality of what I was hearing and what I was seeing. I remained curious though, and continued my search; however, it became centered around wanting to know God and not Jesus.
