Outreach
We meet every Saturday in Raleigh, NC, to walk around and meet individuals and families who are struggling financially and are in need of things that we tend to take for granted – a roof over our head, food to eat, transportation, etc. These are stories about the people we encounter each week as we get to know folks and build a community of people helping people!
Fellowship, Prayer, Singing and Healing
The meeting this past Saturday was just wonderful! We had members of Green Pines Baptist Church get up on a cold, Saturday morning and come to help us pack the lunch bags to hand out later that day. It was wonderful fellowship, talking while packing the bags and...
Community at Work!
On the way to church this morning, I got a call from C, a guy I met yesterday while handing out lunch bags, and who lives in a homeless camp near where we were handing them out. He met a single Mom who was looking for housing. I went by after church, and he had met...
This Weeks Journey
This past week was a whirlwind of activity! The week started with a visit with S. I have known S for almost a year now, and it has taken time to build up the trust needed to allow us to help her beyond just giving money and food. We had a great conversation over...
A New Year For Love and Community
2022 was the first year of the Outreach, and we learned so much! There has been happiness, and there have been tears. We have met some wonderful people along the way and are very excited about all that will take place in 2023! We met and have gotten to know many...
Coffee and Bo-Berry Biscuits
At today's meeting we discussed the good Samaritan from Luke 10: 25-37: And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him [Jesus] to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" [Jesus] said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?"...
Christmas Love to Those in Need
During our visits last week, we were able to bless several folks with warm socks, gloves, hats, and a bag of food all wrapped up in a Christmas bag with a Christmas card. Thank you so much to the Sunday School group of Green Pines Baptist Church in Knightdale for...
Saying Goodbye
When talking with individuals who are living on the street, we hear stories about others they have come to know over the years who have passed away. I could not anticipate how quickly the news of someone passing from this community would make its way to me. Over the...
Memories of a Packed School Lunch
As I was packing lunches on Saturday to hand out to folks, it brought back memories of sitting in the cafeteria of my school watching my friends and classmates pull out their lunches from brown paper bags, eating in a room with others, talking and laughing, in between...
Lunch Packs and Fellowship
We had a great time at the outreach yesterday! We handed out waterproof, drawstring bags filled with toiletries and T-Shirts and lunch bags full of homemade sandwiches, apples, chips, soup and a bottle of water with an electrolyte mix, all decorated for Christmas, or...
